At Crafters Lab, we are happy that you have shopped our leather patch hat. So, you need to know that our products are made under quality standards and by using excellent materials to offer our customers the best products. That is why, to help extend the useful life of your leather patch, we let you on this page some helpful tips and convenient methods for its maintenance.
I. Tips to keep in mind.
- Dipping your hat underwater may cause warping to the leather patch, the printing could lose quality, or the patch size could shrink. Therefore, in no cases we do not recommend putting your hat underwater for a long time, nor under any other type of liquid. Also, we recommend using something other than washing machines for maintenance since it could cause damage with little possibility of restoration. Remember that we use 100% genuine leather, so you should be careful in these cases.
- If your hat becomes wet due to rain, seawater, or accidental submersion, we recommend allowing it to dry naturally through exposure to air. In the case of submersion in salt water, lightly rinse the hat with fresh water and repeat the process of air drying.
- If your hat with a leather patch gets wet, it is not advisable to use dryers or hot air ventilation. Doing so may cause deformation of the hat, and the patch could become unstuck due to excessive heat.
- It is not advisable to soak your hat if it has leather patches, as it may weaken the glue that holds the patch and the hat together. Using cleaning products like soap, water, alcohol, or other chemical detergents can also be harsh on the patches.
- It's important to remember that your leather hat is a delicate item. To ensure its longevity, it's essential to follow specific care and maintenance recommendations. By doing so, you can increase the useful life of your product.
- If the leather patch gets wet, it may lose its natural oils during the drying process. This can cause it to become brittle and less flexible. It's important to avoid using detergents or rubbing the patch and print to prevent further damage.
II. Leather patch hat maintenance and cleaning tips.
Hats need to be cleaned and maintained due to natural causes such as sweat or oil from hair and skin. These unavoidable dark spots are a common problem. To help restore and increase the lifespan of your hat, we have some cleaning tips to share.
- When cleaning hats, it's important to use cold water to prevent any changes to their elasticity, color, shape, or materials used in manufacturing.
- For best results, it is suggested to use room temperature water when moistening your cap or hat. Be sure to only collect enough water to moisten the material for a few seconds without completely soaking the entire item. Avoid immersing the cap or hat in water for an extended period of time.
- When cleaning your hat, it's best to use neutral detergents that are usually intended for gentle materials such as clothing and skincare products. These detergents have a balanced pH level that won't affect the texture, shape, or color of your hat.
- To remove specific stains from your hat, gently rub some detergent onto the affected area with your hand. Allow it to soak in for a few minutes, but be careful not to rub too hard as this may damage the material.
- To prevent discoloration of the hat's surface, avoid applying too much force or rubbing for too long. Rub for 2-3 seconds and check the stain's condition. If needed, repeat the process once more.
- On the market, there are many leather cleaning products available. However, baking soda can be a great alternative due to its many benefits. It can act as a stain remover and effectively eliminate bad odors. Additionally, it leaves a neutral fragrance after use. Therefore, we highly recommend using it for cleaning caps and hats.
- It's unusual for baking soda to leave stains, but it's always a good idea to test it first. Try using it to scrub areas that tend to trap bad smells and stubborn stains that haven't come out with other cleaning methods.
- To avoid damaging the shape of your hat, refrain from squeezing or making sudden movements to speed up the drying process. It's best to use padding instead to maintain its shape and preserve its design.
- After washing your hat, make sure to let it dry in a well-ventilated area, but avoid exposing it to direct sunlight. Sunlight can cause discoloration and change the texture of the patch on your hat.
